Investment Banking Tooling
Streamlining the workflow for the Dutch investment bank for developing countries
ROVC provides practical vocational education, where both students and teachers rely on clear structure, progress visibility and mutual trust. Existing tools did not sufficiently support day-to-day learning workflows, making it difficult to track progress, prepare lessons and maintain engagement across different learning levels.
This project explored how a digital learning environment could better support practical education by aligning educational goals with daily classroom realities.
The learning environment was designed to support both students and teachers, each with distinct needs. Students required clarity, guidance and feedback, while teachers needed overview, progress insight and control over learning paths. Design decisions consistently balanced these perspectives to ensure the platform supported collaboration rather than creating additional administrative overhead.
Clear structure formed the foundation of the platform. Learning modules, assignments and progress indicators were designed to be transparent and predictable, supporting trust between students and teachers. By closely aligning digital interactions with practical, real-world learning activities, the platform reinforced relevance and motivation.
To reduce cognitive load and re-orientation time, the platform was designed to clearly indicate a user’s current position and next steps. This helped students resume their work efficiently and enabled teachers to quickly understand individual and group progress.
Different question types were used to support various learning styles and skill levels. This allowed teachers to challenge students appropriately while maintaining engagement and encouraging reflection, rather than focusing solely on right-or-wrong outcomes.
If a student experiences difficulties, they can easily access the associated theory or send a message to their teacher using the help button, available for each block of theory or exercise.
With a quick look, teachers can see how their group is progressing. They can check how many questions were answered correctly and view the responses given to each question. Additionally, teachers can review open questions, cases, and workplace assignments to provide feedback.
This project strengthened my understanding of how digital products can support educational processes without over-structuring them. It highlighted the importance of balancing clarity with autonomy, and reinforced the role of design in making complex learning dynamics visible and actionable for different user groups.
With Robin, I have full confidence that the project is in good hands and requires little oversight. He communicates decisions clearly and brings stakeholders along through strong storytelling.
The designers gave us the insight that the online learning environment is often the first thing our ROVC students see. For such an entry, you go one step further. This design certainly succeeded in that way!
This project was developed in collaboration with educational stakeholders at ROVC. My role focused on interaction design, structuring learning flows and translating educational needs into a coherent digital experience, working closely with educators and developers.
